"Young Love"
IS: 11 x 9 ins.

Hailing from Staten Island, New York, her artistic
talent was recognized and she was granted entrance to Washington Irving High School in
Manhatten where her artistic development flourished. She earned a scholarship to the
prestigious Cooper Uniton where she received a degree in fine arts and graphic design. In
1964, her family moved to Waynesboro in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Here, she came
to know and respect the Amish and Mennonite people. Impressed by their ethics of hard
work, their integrity, and their love for family and land, she began to incorporate these
people in her art. Pat received her first major art award in 1967. This encouraged her to
start marketing her work seriously. The uniqueness of her style, the warmth generated by
her subject matter, and her ability to communicate on many levels to many people quickly
won her wide-spread recognition. Pat is well known for her work with special eduction
groups. Herself a dyslexic, she has become a role model to the learning impaired and is a
frequent speaker to special education and handicapped classes. This aspect of her life was
featured in a segment of CBSs "Sunday Morning" program on September 14,
1988; Charles Kuralt described her as "the Peoples Artist," a title still
associated with her name today. Visit P. Buckley Moss at www.p-buckley-moss.com.
